Our Thoughts

As a group of Malden residents who advocate for accessibility for all, we see the Spot Pond Brook Greenway as an important step towards this goal, and we hope to see this project reach the finish line. Any large project will always generate discussion and even disagreement, and this project has been no different. There have been several public meetings over the past 5 years and many ideas have been brought forward. We sincerely appreciate the thoughtfulness that so many of our neighbors have shown in coming forward with their thoughts, concerns, and ideas. We especially appreciate the efforts of the many city employees who have worked hard on this project. They have shown a real dedication to making revisions and compromises that have improved the project and protected the interests of a wide variety of stakeholders and abutters. Finishing the project will be a major win for everyone in Malden as it will make the streets a little bit safer and make the city center that much more attractive, accessible and inclusive.
